Today’s guest is someone whose work spans just about every corner of the writing world — and somehow, he makes it all feel connected.
Henry Weikel runs Dancing Star Press, an independent press that publishes out-of-print and archival fiction in beautifully designed, pocket-sized editions — their first book is a new collection of late Henry James ghost stories, and their next project is a sci-fi magazine currently open for submissions.
He also runs writing education programs for students in the Bay Area and abroad, does consulting work with writer’s residency programs in Asia, and has built a devoted readership for his travel essays at Shore Leave, which he’s now adapting into a book. He’s exactly the kind of person who makes you think: oh, this is what it looks like to build a writing life on your own terms.
