On today’s ✍️ Writer Spotlight, I had a great conversation on Substack Live with travel writer Andi Utter.
Andi Utter is a storyteller, military brat, globe-trotting educator, and someone with, in her own words, lots of fires burning. She writes at Real Talk Traveler on Substack, bringing honesty, humor, and real depth to stories about bold, unconventional living.
Here’s why we’re especially excited to have her today: Andi landed a writing opportunity through the ✍️ Make Writing Your Job job board — and it led to her piece “Unspoken Kindness” being published in The Kindness of Strangers, a brand new travel anthology by Bradt Guides, compiled from their New Travel Writer of the Year competition by Bradt founder Hilary Bradt herself. Andi’s piece opens the collection. We love to see it.
And on top of all that, she’s been actively advocating for federal funding for study abroad programs — because for Andi, travel isn’t just something she writes about. It’s something she fights for.
Purchase The Kindness of Strangers here (Andi’s story is the first one in the book!)
