Teo Mefalopulos is the co-founder and CEO of anana, a digital cooking platform on a mission to preserve generational Italian recipes — not from cookbooks or culinary schools, but directly from the nonnas and nonni who've been making them for decades.
Born in Italy and now based in Austin, Texas, Teo launched anana alongside co-founder Blake Takushi after recognizing that some of the most extraordinary food traditions in the world were quietly disappearing with the people who held them.
The platform has already documented 100+ recipes from 40+ grandmothers and grandfathers across Italy, and recently launched paid subscriptions on Substack — which we'll be talking about today. I've had the privilege of taking cooking lessons from older generations during my own travels in Italy, and I know firsthand how irreplaceable that experience is.
Thanks for supporting our guests with all of the great work they’re doing!
