✍️ Writer Spotlight: Author Leslie Baird (Salomé)

How to land developmental edit freelance work and the inspiration between Leslie Baird's debut novel Salomé.

Leslie Baird holds an MFA in fiction from Sewanee, the University of the South, and has spent years working as a ghostwriter, developmental editor, and book coach — helping other people’s stories find their shape while quietly writing her own. She’s also a digital nomad currently based in Portugal.

Her debut novel, Salomé, is out May 19th from Penguin Random House — a gothic, feminist reimagining of one of history’s most mythologized women.

I’m so thrilled to have her here today — especially because Leslie actually found her way to us through the ✍️ Make Writing Your Job job board, where she was hired for a freelance developmental editor role by a previous guest of ours, author and documentary producer Kristin Fellows.

Thanks for supporting our guests!
