💼 FAQs

Q: Can I post a job to your writing job board?

A: Yes! If you’re hiring writers, ghostwriters, editors, copywriters, content writers, script writers, or writing coaches, you can submit your job listing here. It’s $29, and you’ll reach a talented community of 35,000+ writers.

Q: How do I access the writing job board?

A: The writing job board is available to paid Core Members and Founding Members.

It’s updated every weekday (5x/week) with curated, high-paying remote writing and ghostwriting opportunities. Because each listing is carefully vetted by our team, access is behind a paywall.

Q: What kinds of writing jobs do you feature?

A: The job board includes freelance, part-time, full-time, and contract roles — including ghostwriting, copywriting, content strategy, creative writing, editing, and grant writing. You’ll also find pitch calls, writing contests, fellowships, and scholarships. We focus on quality over quantity — every job is hand-picked for relevance, pay, and creative potential.

Q: Are the writing jobs open to international freelancers?

A: While many listings are U.S.-based, most are open to international writers — especially those offering remote flexibility. If you’re outside the U.S., you’ll still find plenty of global, remote-friendly opportunities worth applying for.

Q: I’m a writer in need. Do you offer scholarships?

A: Yes! Through our Write It Forward program, Founding Members sponsor paid annual subscriptions for writers who need a financial lift. Apply here to join the scholarship waitlist — spots are granted on a rolling basis as Founding contributions grow.

Q: What’s a “Featured Job”?

A: Featured Jobs and Featured Pitches are exclusive listings submitted directly by clients looking to hire from our community. They often offer better pay, more creative freedom, and are rarely posted elsewhere.

Founding Members get a 24-hour head start — early access often means first in line for the best gigs.

📝 Pitch List FAQ

Q: What is Pitch List?

A: The Pitch List is our list of calls for pitches and submissions by magazines and publications. It comes out 2x/week for our paid subscribers.

Q: How can I pitch a publication?

A: Simply go to the “pitch here” link and follow the instructions. Different publications have different submission guidelines, so be sure to follow the instructions and get a sense of the publication before you pitch!

Q: What if I see a submission guideline that’s older (i.e. from 2023?)

A: Still pitch! Often, editors don’t update their submission guidelines for each individual pitch call or call for submissions they post. And if you find that a submission email/link is broken, consider trying to find a different link or email on the website or on social media. Sometimes landing a pitch requires a bit of persistence!

Q: What if a link is broken?

A: You can let us know at team@makewritingyourjob.com. Just some context, if you’re curious: our team curates hundreds (sometimes thousands!) of links each week for The Pitch List. While we remove dead links for every issue and do our best to keep things current, sometimes links break or pitch calls get taken down after we post it. If you drafted a pitch for the item with a broken link, consider pitching it elsewhere!

Q: Should I follow up after sending a pitch?

A: No, we recommend not following up on any pitches you send. We’ve found that editors are inundated and sometimes will accept your pitch ~ months ~ after you submit. We recommend pitching and then moving on to your next submission!

Q: Where can I find your full database of evergreen pitches + pitch database?

A: Because we sometimes get thousands of pitch calls and creative opportunities sent to us each week, we can’t put them all on The Pitch List! Instead, you can visit CozyJobs to access our entire database of creative jobs and opportunities (including non-writing jobs!)

Q: Is every listing new on The Pitch List?

A: No, we keep pitch calls with deadlines on The Pitch List until the deadline passes. Any new item is marked with a “NEW” and we have recently added sections at the top to help you see what’s just been added.

🛋️ CozyJobs & CozyApply FAQs

Q: Do I need CozyJobs if I just want writing jobs in my inbox?

A: Nope! If all you want is writing jobs delivered to your inbox, you do not need CozyJobs at all. Your Make Writing Your Job emails already cover that. Every week we parse through thousands of listings to surface the best of the best, so you get the top remote writing opportunities without having to dig for them. For a lot of writers, that’s all they need. (New here? Our Start Here video walks through everything included with your MWYJ subscription.)

Q: What is CozyJobs?

A: CozyJobs is our full database of creative jobs and opportunities — and it’s broader than just writing. It covers writing, marketing, tech, and content creation roles (contract and full-time, remote-friendly), including the thousands of pitch calls and listings we receive each week that we can’t fit on The Pitch List. It also comes with our browser extension, CozyApply, which auto-applies to jobs for you.

Q: Why is CozyJobs a separate subscription from Make Writing Your Job?

A: We want to be totally straight with you here: CozyJobs is a genuinely separate platform with more infrastructure, more cost, and a separate team that maintains it. We can’t fold it into the Make Writing Your Job subscription without making the whole thing unsustainable for our small team — and we’d rather be honest about that than overpromise. So you only ever pay for CozyJobs if it actually fits how you work.

Q: What is CozyApply?

A: CozyApply is our browser extension that autofills job and opportunity applications for you, so you spend less time on repetitive applications and more time writing. It’s included with a paid CozyJobs subscription, and you can also try it on the free plan (see below).

Q: Is there a free version of CozyJobs?

A: Yes! The free version of CozyJobs gives you:

  • Our application tracker

  • 10 free CozyApply credits to test the autofill application tool

The free plan does not include access to the full jobs database — that’s part of the paid subscription.

Q: Can I try CozyJobs before committing?

A: Absolutely. Beyond the free plan above, there’s a $0.99-for-your-first-week coupon for our paid subscribers of MWYJ if you want to explore the full jobs database. The tutorial below walks through exactly how CozyJobs and CozyApply work together, and the coupon is in there too:

Q: Is CozyJobs only for writers?

A: No — that’s one of the big differences from Make Writing Your Job. CozyJobs includes non-writing creative roles too, spanning writing, marketing, and content creation. It also includes all the hybrid and in-person roles we don’t list on Make Writing Your Job (MWYJ is remote only.) If you wear multiple creative hats or are open to adjacent work, you’ll find a lot more there than writing alone.

Q: Is CozyJobs available to international and remote-anywhere writers?

A: Yes — CozyJobs is built around remote-friendly, contract and full-time opportunities, with plenty that are open to writers and creatives outside the U.S. As always, individual listings set their own location requirements, so check each one before applying. CozyJobs also has listings for in-person and hybrid work as well.
