"This is a question I get a lot from writers and creative freelancers -- I hope you enjoy this podcast episode!"

I’m back on Freelance to Founder (you can listen to the last episodes I recorded with them here and here!) with host Preston Lee.

In this episode I talk a bit about my brand new book Write for Money and Power, and then we answer listener Beatriz’s question below on Spotify:

🎙️ Listener Question: How Do I “Sell” Myself as a Creative Freelancer Without “Selling Out”?

Some of the topics we cover in this episode…

  • Most creatives have lots of limiting beliefs about money. It’s why I wrote Write for Money and Power — we have to reprogram our thoughts so we avoid the starving artist myth.

  • Instead of thinking of “selling” your art or creativity — shift your thinking to “I’m solving a problem for a client that’s valuable, so I should charge for that value.”

  • The identity shift of “I’m a professional writer/creator” helps to operate from a better place with clients, with habits, and more.

I hope you enjoy — and be sure to go subscribe to Freelance to Founder for more great episodes!

You can also listen to this episode on Apple Podcasts or anywhere else you listen to podcasts.
