As someone who moves between fiction and journalism, podcasting and poetry, I’m continually reminded of the crossovers in craft and my aim is to enjoy and immerse myself in all the work I take on. I love how you talk about the making of candy and the time it takes compared to the moment you pop it in your mouth.
Thanks Kirsten! There’s something special to that “crossover” you’re talking about. Pro athletes “cross train” all the time by doing different types of workouts (or even different sports!) so I feel like in writing it only serves to make you stronger as well!
Writing as an art and not a transaction, ooooof such a powerful reminder. The only way I can tap back into this mindset is by taking time for myself to CREATE with no goal in mind. A reminder that the process of creation is where the magic happens, not in the outcome or the validation, but in the freedom to explore, play, and just be.
