One of the questions we hear most often at ✍️ Make Writing Your Job is simple: “What are writers and editors actually getting paid?”

So we’re answering it.

We’ve officially launched the MWYJ 2025 Rate Transparency Survey, an anonymous, 3-5 minute survey designed to provide writers, editors, and editorial professionals with a clearer picture of real-world rates across various roles, experience levels, industries, and regions.

A few important notes before you start:

• The survey is 100% anonymous

• No names, emails, or identifying details are collected

• All rates and income ranges are listed in USD (international respondents: please choose the closest equivalent)

• Results will be shared in a MWYJ report closer to the start of 2026
