📖 3-Minute Story: My 3 Spooky Season Favorites
Last weekend I was in Salem, Massachusettes having the smallest hot chocolate of my life.
Salem has embraced its dark (and quite sad) history and has turned into a veritable Halloween town. As I sipped my melted chocolate beverage and strolled past street performers and sidewalk psychics, I started to think about what makes for a quintessential fall season.
Here are 3 of my favorite recs for ringing in spooky season:
Spooky Season Pick #1: A Horror-Themed Scripted Podcast/Audio Drama
A few years ago, I produced the 10-episode podcast The Horror at Martin’s Beach created by my partner
that blends the horrors of Lovecraftian gods with the horrors of joining Greek Life. The show is really epic and has great sound design, and it’s a good listen for spooky season.
Spooky Season Pick #2: My Favorite Hot Chocolate
As I’ve been traveling around New England and sampling various hot chocolates, my favorite hot chocolate recipe is now Mexican Hot Chocolate. I like the spice — it reminds me of chocolate chai tea, which is also amazing! — and it’s a great twist on the classic drink.
Spooky Season Pick #3: Books with a Halloween Vibe
In terms of what to read, I have two fall-themed books on my TBR list: Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and Phantasma by Kaylie Smith — both have come really highly recommended to me. I’ll read and report back to you with my thoughts!
I hope you’re having a great start to your fall! 🎃 Would love to hear any of your recs or traditions in the comments.

✨ Products I’ve Loved This Week…
Each week, I highlight 2 of my favorite picks in the categories of travel gadgets, clean beauty, fashion, and more.
Here is this week’s list:
Micellar water. In the age of the thirteen-step skincare routine, I’ve found that less is absolutely more. I still swear by just using micellar water as part of my 3-step skincare routine, and it’s cheaper and better than all of the other irritating and toxic cleansers out there.
Joah Brown sweatshirts. I bought this sweatshirt and it has been my absolute favorite oversized fall/winter sweatshirt for all things. I wear it to the gym, on travel days, and around whatever Airbnb I’m in. It’s cozy and amazing and is durable. As a digital nomad who is constantly putting my favorite clothes in the wash each week and only few survive, this sweatshirt is worth the hefty price tag.
