✍️ Featured Job: Developmental Editor for Raw, Riveting Memoir of Addiction and Recovery
An author seeks a developmental editor for an unfiltered, meaningful memoir tackling addition, homelessness, and recovery. Budget is $5,000–$8,000.
Role(s): A powerful true story needs a careful editorial hand.
An author is finishing a memoir chronicling five and a half years of addiction and homelessness on the streets of Kensington, and the hard-won journey back — including surviving the loss of both feet to frostbite, learning to walk again, and rebuilding their life.
The author was profiled in a documentary that spotlighted his story. Now, the author is nearly done with his manuscript — a raw, unfiltered draft that captures the intensity, darkness, and humanity of addiction and recovery from the inside.
He’s looking for a seasoned developmental editor who can help shape the manuscript for publication without sanding down the voice that makes it unforgettable. The draft is about 95% done, with a few additions planned, and is ready for a collaborative developmental edit focused on the big-picture structure as well as deepening the scene work within the draft itself.
This is a chance to work closely with a first-time author on a memoir that matters.
Estimated budget: $5,000–$8,000 for the developmental edit.
