📖 3-Minute Story: Spend a Day with Me Writing in Buenos Aires, Argentina
8:30am. My partner Kyle is still sleeping when I slink out of bed, trying not to wake him. Argentina culture is all about late nights, and we were out until 2am with some friends at a bar in SoHo the night before. The sun is creeping through the corners of our curtains as I get dressed and pack my backpack: it’s a Monday, and time to get to work!
9:00am. I make it right on the dot to Lab Coffee, my favorite coffeeshop in my neighborhood of Palermo Hollywood. A culture of late nights mean coffeeshops open at 9am here, and I get in “early” to snag my favorite seat at the bar by the window. Lab Coffee has the best flat whites — and the best people-watching. I settle into my morning by journaling, hydrating, and caffeinating. I wave at my partner Kyle as he walks to the gym across the street for his morning workout.
9:30am. I start my day by working on a new book outline. It’s a project I’m not ready to share here yet, but it’s something personal and cathartic that I’m doing on the side of my freelancing work. It’s also how I may or may not be procrastinating a little on the next chapter of my novel let me be your ghost (it’s our secret, okay?)
noon. I wrap up my morning writing sesh and order brunch: an insanely good quinoa egg bowl with avocado for $4. My partner Kyle comes to join me, and we go over the content strategy for our startup, OmList (coming soon!). I do some work with him over freshly brewed kombucha, and then wrap up with some emails.
1pm. Workout time! I head to the gym across the street (all hail walkable neighborhoods!) and do a strength workout and a short run on the treadmill.
2pm. After my workout, I shower and then hop on a Zoom call with a potential client who needs my help with her book. I walk her through the pros and cons of traditional publishing vs. self-publishing, showing her some recent data about publishing trends, and discuss the process of bringing a book to life. Writing a book is a life-changing journey, and I love helping others who are considering taking that leap for themselves. After our call, I share a proposal with the potential client outlining how I can help her make her book a reality this year.
4pm. My workday is basically over, and it’s time to grab some green juice and go on a walk! My partner Kyle and I walk over to a green juice shop, and then I leave to go on a secret mission to pick up his birthday gift at a shop in SoHo.
5pm. I wander back to our place in Palermo Hollywood, taking my time to browse local shops and enjoy the great summer weather and the swaying of the trees that line all of the streets here. When I get back I read one of the many books I’m in the middle of, do some yoga, and get to a few emails.
7pm. Time for dinner! We head to a group dinner one of our friends booked in the city. Per usual, the food is amazing and we stay out late talking for hours, and then head to a speakeasy bar after where I drink mocktails and promise another friend I’ll join them for salsa classes that week.
midnight. My partner and I get home and wrap up the day. I pack my bag and make sure everything’s charging for tomorrow’s work session. Another great day in the books as a full-time digital nomad and writer!
