📖 3-Minute Story: 3 Tips for a Productive Sunday Reset for Writers
It’s the last week of my self-imposed writing retreat in the desert. I’ve spent all of February waking up before the sun, making my morning matcha and cashew milk latte in a quiet ritual ahead of my morning walk. Then, I sit down at my desk and let my dreams unspool on the page.
Sundays are a sacred part of my week: I love filling out my weekly questions, setting out my priorities for the week, and timeblocking my writing and meeting schedule so I can make sure the week is one well-spent.
If you want a more creative and productive week, here are 3 things to do as part of your Sunday Reset to get there:
Spend time reflecting before taking action. Part of the magic of a Sunday Reset is the clearing of the mental cobwebs to make space for new ideas while getting closure on any challenges that came up the previous week. To do this, I journal on the following 3 questions every Sunday:
How am I feeling?
What did I do right last week? What do I want to improve upon?
What would make this week great and get me closer to my goals?
Clean up your physical and digital spaces. Yes, that means it’s time to close those 119 tabs you have open on your browser and do that laundry that’s been begging to be washed! As a digital nomad and minimalist, I only travel with a carry-on suitcase and my backpack, so I have much less stuff to put away, but even the simple act of doing basic tidying up can help my space feel nice before the week ahead.
Create Sunday Reset Rituals that mark a fresh start. This could be something as simple as lighting your favorite candle or as complex as sacrificing donated clutter to the Goodwill Gods in exchange for some good writing juju. Do what works for you, okay?
Another thing I’m preparing for is my upcoming trip to Seoul, South Korea! If you’ve been, would love to hear your recs. 💕 I’ll be there for a month and can’t wait to indulge in all of the cute cafes there.

Clearing mental clutter. Visit your mind as if it’s an attic. What needs to be examined? How can you clean out some of the clutter and dust that’s been accumulating there?

Loved this newsletter! I also love resetting on Sundays. I call it "GYST Day" - It's something I picked up from Kalyn Nicholson. Like you, Amy, I also reflect, do a deep clean, and plan for the following week. 😊
It has been a long time since I have been to Seoul, South Korea so I probably couldn't give you any good recs for today's South Korea. I was stationed down in Kunsan AB back in 1990 which is near the small South Korean city of Gunsan. If you are flying into Kimpo it is a large airport near the city of Seoul and the first thing I noticed while flying into South Korea is that it seemed exotic to me, I saw a lot of rice fields and mountains (similar to the Appalachians in the US) and the sun was shining off the rice fields. South Korea is quite beautiful and technology rich (even back in 1990) with good eating and a lot of things to do.
Hope you enjoy your trip to South Korea and maybe someone with more recent experience there can give you the latest 411 on city and country.
